Account & Setup
How do I create an account?
Visit app.docengine.dev/signup and sign up with your email or Google account. You'll be guided through creating your organization and first workspace.
How does document versioning work?
Every time a document is saved, DocEngine creates a new version automatically. You can view the full version history, compare changes between any two versions side by side, and roll back to a previous version if needed.
Can I change my organization name?
Yes. Navigate to Organization Settings and update your organization name. This change is reflected across all workspaces and projects.
AI Generation
How do I generate a BRD?
Open your project, click "New Document," enter your plain-text requirements, select an AI provider and model, then click "Generate." The AI will create a structured BRD that you can review and edit.
How do I derive documents from a BRD?
Open your BRD and use the "Derive Document" option. Select the document type you want (SRD, FRS, Epics, User Stories, or Tasks) and the AI will generate it based on the BRD content.
Which AI providers are supported?
DocEngine supports OpenAI (GPT models), Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI, and OpenRouter. You can configure your preferred provider in your workspace settings.
What counts as an AI generation?
Each document generation or derivation counts as one AI generation against your plan limit. Editing or refining individual sections does not consume additional generations.
Sharing & Export
How do I share a document externally?
Open a document and click "Share." Generate a secure link with an optional expiration date. Copy the link and send it to external stakeholders — no account required to view.
What export formats are available?
DocEngine supports exporting to PDF, Word (.docx), Excel, and Markdown. All formats support Arabic and right-to-left languages.
Can I set permissions on shared links?
Yes. When generating a share link, you can choose between view-only or edit access. You can also set an expiration date or revoke the link at any time.
Knowledge Graph
What is the Knowledge Graph?
The Knowledge Graph uses GraphRAG technology to automatically extract entities and relationships from your documents. It builds a visual map connecting requirements, documents, and tasks so you can see how everything relates.
How does traceability work?
DocEngine traces requirements end-to-end — from your BRD through SRDs, FRS, Epics, User Stories, and Tasks. Click any entity in the graph to see all connected items and their current status.
What is impact analysis?
Impact analysis shows you what would be affected if a requirement or document section changes. Before making edits, you can see which downstream documents, tasks, and entities are connected — helping you avoid unintended side effects.
